Judy House - Christmas Songs For The Mountain Dulcimer

Regular price $16.00

This is a book of sheet music, from Judy House. Christmas tunes. (You probably figured that out from the title, right?) What makes this book special, then? I'm glad you asked!

This is one of the best ever books of Christmas (plus a few holiday tunes!) for mountain dulcimer, because of Judy's fine arranging skills. She's put enough harmony and interesting stuff on top of the melodies to make your performances sound rich and full. These aren't "over the top" arrangements, too difficult to play for most people, but they're far more than the "here's a melody line with chord symbols" approach that many arrangers take.

The right balance of holiday tunes and Christmas tunes, the right balance of easy and difficult. All around, the right choice for most of us. Enjoy!

Christmas in September

Having a great time learning these Christmas Songs from the Judy House book I got while at Folkcraft

A delightful selection of Christmas tunes that are new to me as well as a good selection of traditionally recognized tunes. Easy enough for a beginner needing a little challenge but with a full sound for more advanced players. I love it.

Solid arrangements

Wonderful collection of Christmas tunes in DAD tuning arranged for the intermediate player, some with second harmony part. In tab and standard notation. The latter is notated an octave above the actual pitch, which I find much easier to read. Also, the notation includes all the notes of the arrangement, not just the melody. This is excellent for dulcimer players learning to read music.

Very Satisfying Collection of Christmas Pieces

_Christmas Songs for the Mountain Dulcimer_ by Judy House is a well-organized collection with a nice layout. The songs include musical notation and tablature, chords and lyrics. All the traditional standards are here, including “Old Lang Syne,” which belongs even if it is not a real carol. I sense that the arrangements are for the dulcimer as a solo instrument, with the melody line enhanced by triads to add depth. But whether you are a strummer or picker, all the music is here to adapt to your performance, leading others in song or charming them with the familiar melodies.
