Tom McConnell - Baritone Dulcimer Jam Book

Regular price $35.00

Do you have a baritone mountain dulcimer, and love its tone quality for solo play, but wish you could use it when you play with a group? This amazing book will give you tips and tricks for playing your AEA-tuned baritone dulcimer with a DAD-tuned standard dulcimer. There are plenty of songs (popular jam tunes) to get you started, plus all the know-how you'll need to make your own arrangements. You'll really appreciate the thought and creativity that went into this book once you start working through it, and applying your new skills to playing the baritone mountain dulcimer!

Every song in this book is included in DAD (for standard dulcimer) and AEA versions (for baritone dulcimer). The two versions are pretty standard arrangements, and will work in most any jam.

Baritone jam book

I just bought a baritone dulcimer. I decided this was a good book to get started. It is ADA tuning so can be played with others in DAD.

Trouble Downloading

I love the tab but had trouble downloading to iPad and getting into forScore. I still do t think I have audio but it’s because of my limited tech skills. I should have just ordered the paper book.

Many Options for the Baritone

Tom McConell's book shows the many different things you can do with a Baritone dulcimer. Some songs highlight chords, some harmony and other simply show how to play the same notes as a Dad dulcimer. I was hoping that the book would do more to define a particular role for the Baritone dulcimer. The key of A is much easier for those who wish to sing along with the Baritone. The Baritone is also great for playing harmony. I don't think the Baritone dulcimer will come into its own until a definite role for it is defined in the dulcimer tapestry,

Baritone Dulcimer Jam Book

This is a great book to have to find ways of making a baritone fit in a jam, especially for those of us less experienced.
