Yes I Do: A Song History

← Back to Browse By Song

Of the fifteen pieces in Music From The Heart, a mountain dulcimer book by Tom McConnell sold on DulcimerDownloads, "Yes I Do" is the one named first under "Songs included," and like every title there it is marked for DAD tuning.[1] The store's blurb describes McConnell as a college professor and calls the book his original music, while the listing credits Airway Publishing as publisher and says the site sells the book under license.[1] A buyer receives a ZIP file holding the whole book as a 44-page PDF, a folder of fifteen PDFs with one piece in each, and fifteen MP3 tracks, so "Yes I Do" can be printed or played back apart from the rest of the collection.[1]

George Bellows, Wedding, lithograph, 1924. Shown for its subject; it has no connection to the piece.

The sources consulted here are silent on when or why McConnell wrote it, and the only recording they mention is the track that comes with the download.[1] The listing names no composer for individual titles, so it is only its general description of the book as McConnell's original music that ties him to this one.[1]
