Wildcat In The Well: A Song History

In the song list for 15 Originals, John Keane's collection published by Fingers Of Steel, the tuning shifts to DAC for the final two pieces, and "Wildcat In The Well," fourteenth of the fifteen, is the first of that pair, followed only by "Bigfoot's Regret."[1] The book's listing gives Keane the composer credit, and the download includes a separate PDF of each tune as well as the complete 43-page book.[1]

Keane earned a degree in music education from Northeast Louisiana University, now the University of Louisiana-Monroe, and he and Karen Keane count more than seventy years of teaching between them; the pair have also composed several books and CDs of original music for mountain dulcimer and Native American flute.[2] Neither the artist page nor any other source consulted here lists this tune on one of those CDs or on any other recording, and none explains the title.[1][2]
