Twilight Serenade: A Song History
"Twilight Serenade" is the closing piece in Ellen Pratt's Ensemble Arrangements For The Mountain Dulcimer, Volume 5, a collection of multipart music for dulcimer groups that its listing pitches at players of every level.[1] The book's contents page, reproduced with the listing, sets it in 3/4 time for four dulcimers in DAD tuning, filling pages 58 to 63.[1] Pratt's own website describes the volume as a mix of original pieces and arrangements of traditional material.[2] The sources consulted here give the piece no separate composer credit, and none of them explains its title or says when it was written.[1][2]

Georges Godin, The Yellow Evening, color aquatint, c. 1904. Shown for its evening sky; it has no connection to the piece.
Pratt's DulcimerDownloads biography describes a style that combines the traditional with the contemporary: she likes driving old-time and jam-tune strumming on dulcimer and banjo, and also gentler fingerpicked chord-melody playing on dulcimer.[3]
