Summer Solitude: A Song History

← Back to Browse By Song

"Summer Solitude" closes Ellen Pratt's Ensemble Arrangements For The Mountain Dulcimer, Volume 7, a PDF songbook of twelve pieces that also supplies each tune as a separate file.[1] The listing gives it three parts in DAD tuning, two for dulcimer and a third for standard or bass dulcimer, and the table of contents pictured on the listing puts it in 6/8 time.[1] Pratt describes the volume on her own site as a mix of original and traditional arrangements.[2] Pratt began composing for the four-equidistant-string dulcimer around 2004 and took up writing and arranging ensemble music after joining a dulcimer orchestra in northeastern Connecticut.[3]
