Snowmelt: A Song History

← Back to Browse By Song

"Snowmelt" is one of twelve pieces in Ellen Pratt's Ensemble Arrangements For The Mountain Dulcimer, Volume 2, where it is written out in three dulcimer parts, all in DAD tuning.[1] The book's listing presents Pratt as an arranger for dulcimer ensembles with decades of experience and notes that she publishes the book herself.[1] Her artist page dates her first compositions, for a dulcimer with four equidistant strings, to around 2004, and links her ensemble pieces to her membership in a dulcimer orchestra in northeastern Connecticut.[2] The listing gives no composer credit for "Snowmelt," and nothing in the sources consulted here records who wrote it, when, or what lies behind its title.[1]
