Snowflakes Drift Among the Leaves: A Song History
"Snowflakes Drift Among the Leaves" appears in Ellen Pratt's Ensemble Arrangements For The Mountain Dulcimer, Volume 5, a book of multipart dulcimer ensemble pieces that Pratt publishes herself and that DulcimerDownloads sells as a 74-page PDF download.[1] The listing gives the piece in four separate parts, labeled Dulcimer 1 through Dulcimer 4, all in DAD tuning.[1] It does not name a composer for the tune or say whether it is one of Pratt's own pieces or her arrangement of someone else's.[1] Pratt's DulcimerDownloads artist page says she began writing her own dulcimer music in 2004 and that she took up ensemble writing and arranging once she had become a member of a dulcimer orchestra in northeast Connecticut.[2] Nothing in the sources consulted here records who wrote the tune, when it was written or what lies behind its title.[1][2]
