September On The Mississippi: A Song History
“September On The Mississippi” is a mountain dulcimer tune closely tied to the player Larry Conger. It gave its name to his debut CD, which his own website dates to 1994; there it appears among eighteen tracks that also include “Greensleeves” and “Wayfaring Stranger.”[1] It is also the title tune of Conger’s tab book of the same name, and he sells a separate duet part for it.[2]
