Seminole Solstice: A Song History
"Seminole Solstice" is one of Bing Futch's own compositions in All Over The Map, a book of his dulcimer tablature that DulcimerDownloads sells as a PDF download with MP3 recordings; the listing credits the tune to Futch and gives it in DAD tuning.[1] Futch is an Orlando-based touring musician who plays Appalachian mountain dulcimer, Native American flute and ukulele, and who hosts the long-running YouTube series Dulcimerica.[2] When he announced the book in April 2007 as his first songbook, under the title Dulcimerica: All Over The Map, Volume 1, his blog marked this piece as one of the collection's wholly original tunes.[3] He also recorded it: the store on his website names it among the "mystical instrumentals" on his album Dulcimer Rock, a largely original album in a rock vein.[4] Nothing in the sources consulted here records when the piece was written or what lies behind its title.[1][2][3][4]
