Pickle Jar Stomp: A Song History

John Keane's 15 Originals, a Fingers Of Steel book of mountain dulcimer tablature, lists "Pickle Jar Stomp" seventh, the last of its seven tunes in DAD tuning before the book moves on to DGD, DAA and DAC.[1] Every tune in the collection, this one among them, carries a composer credit to Keane on the listing, which describes a 43-page PDF of the whole book plus fifteen single-tune files.[1] A Shreveport, Louisiana, musician with a music education degree from Northeast Louisiana University, the school now called the University of Louisiana-Monroe, Keane performs with Karen Keane in styles ranging from bluegrass and Louisiana traditional music to comic novelties, and the two have several books and CDs of their own dulcimer and Native American flute music.[2] Neither source consulted here explains the title or dates the tune.[1][2]
