Morning Mist: A Song History

Ellen Pratt's Ensemble Arrangements For The Mountain Dulcimer, Volume 4 includes "Morning Mist" as a trio, with three dulcimer parts written in DAD tuning.[1] The volume's table of contents, pictured on the DulcimerDownloads listing, places the piece in 4/4 time on pages 17 to 19, and while some entries there carry the names of John Dowland or Ludwig van Beethoven, this one carries no composer's name.[1] Pratt's own store presents the volume as a mixture of original and traditional multi-part arrangements, and the sources consulted here do not say which of the two "Morning Mist" is.[2]

Pratt began writing her own dulcimer music in 2004, and in the first-person statement on her DulcimerDownloads biography page she counts ten volumes of ensemble tablature to her name, along with a compilation for the First National Dulcimer Orchestra.[3] Her own website adds that she spent several years playing with the Northeast Dulcimer Orchestra in Connecticut.[4] None of the sources consulted here explains the title or names a recording of the piece.[1][2][3][4]
