Midnight Howler: A Song History
"Midnight Howler" is listed thirteenth of the fourteen tunes in DulciFlute 2, the second book of duets for mountain dulcimer and Native American flute from John Keane and Karen Keane, published by Fingers Of Steel.[1] The listing presents the book as a collection of original songs written for that pairing, and the download includes MP3 recordings.[1] It names no composer for any single piece, so it does not say which of the Keanes wrote this one.[1] The couple, who hail from Shreveport, Louisiana, earned music education degrees at Northeast Louisiana University (today the University of Louisiana-Monroe) and count several books and CDs of their own dulcimer-and-flute music among their work.[2][3] The sources consulted here say nothing about what the title refers to or what prompted it.[1][2][3]
