Maureen Sellers

Maureen Sellers is a mountain dulcimer player, teacher and arranger from New Albany, Indiana, just across the Ohio River from Louisville, Kentucky. Her books are written for novice to intermediate players, with standard notation, tablature, chords and lyrics, and nearly every song is arranged in D-A-D tuning.

Maureen has taught the mountain dulcimer for many years, including classes at the University of Louisville and Bellarmine College in Louisville and at Indiana University Southeast in New Albany. Her programs for clubs, festivals and schools have covered dulcimer playing, the history of the instrument, sing-alongs, and hands-on playing with traditional Appalachian toys.

Her two My Teaching Book For Appalachian Dulcimer volumes grew out of her classes, collecting the songs, tips and techniques she uses with beginning and novice students. Her popular "Simply" series gathers old-time songs, gospel music, Christmas songs and duets in easy, singable arrangements. Her books are published by Fingers Of Steel.

Maureen's recordings include Live! At Dulci-More Festival, and she is one of the artists featured on the compilation Great Players of the Mountain Dulcimer.
