Martha Einan

Martha Einan loves to arrange traditional Celtic tunes for small dulcimer ensembles. Her solo arrangements typically include a chord-melody part, which can be fingerpicked or strummed, and an easier single-note melody part. Her ensemble arrangements typically include a chord-melody part, at least one single-note melody part, a chord part, and a harmony or bass dulcimer part – or sometimes both!

Martha has played several instruments over the years. She started with violin, moved on to clarinet and alto sax, and then found her favorite instrument of all: mountain dulcimer. She began playing dulcimer after visiting her father’s hometown and hearing a local performer play in a café. Returning home, she found Everything Dulcimer online, connected with the Three Rivers Dulcimer Society, and began her dulcimer journey. She especially enjoys fingerpicking.

Her first book of dulcimer arrangements, Melodies and More for Mountain Dulcimer, was published by Mel Bay in 2016.
