Jellyfish Tickle: A Song History
"Jellyfish Tickle" is one of the tunes in Mark Gilston's American Old Time Tunes For Dulcimer, Volume 1, a book of old-time tunes arranged for mountain dulcimer, published by Mark Gilston.[1] The listing calls the collection traditional, standard material for old-time players, and credits no composer for this tune.[1] Gilston's own website, however, says the book takes in some of his original tunes as well as American old-time ones, all drawn from his CDs and tabbed in D-A-D tuning, without saying which tunes are his.[2] Raised in New York City, Gilston earned a bachelor's degree in folklore, moved to Austin, Texas, in 2002, and won the National Mountain Dulcimer competition at Winfield, Kansas, in 2016.[3]

Gilston also recorded "Jellyfish Tickle" as the third track of his CD Lend Me An Ear, which his website describes as "a collection of traditional songs and instrumentals"; the track list gives no composer credit for it.[4]
