Imagine Peace: A Song History

"Imagine Peace" appears in the Irish tin whistle section of Aubrey Atwater's Song By Song, Vol. I, a book of old-time favorites for mountain dulcimer, banjo, whistle, guitar and voice, published by Aubrey Atwater.[1] The listing does not say who wrote the piece.[1] Atwater, a Rhode Island musician, has performed since 1987 in a duo with Elwood Donnelly, her husband since 1989, and their research into traditional music and dance, and their performances of it, have taken them to Appalachia, the Ozarks and New England as well as to Ireland, England and Prince Edward Island.[2]

A tin whistle instrumental of the same name turns up on the duo's live album And Then I'm Going Home, where their own track notes credit it to Phil Edmonds and list Atwater on whistle and Donnelly on guitar, recorded at the Stone Soup Coffeehouse on April 8, 2000.[3] The duo's Bandcamp page gives the album's release date as May 9, 2001, and marks this track as an instrumental.[4]
