Gail L. Van Amberg

Gail L. Van Amberg is a musician and author with two degrees in music. Over the years she has learned to play a wide range of instruments, including the French horn, hammered dulcimer, mountain dulcimer, bowed psaltery and dobro, and more recently the concertina.

Gail plays a Folkcraft® MaxDAD®, the five-string mountain dulcimer tuned DADAD, and wrote her MaxDAD Songbook for fellow MaxDAD players. It holds 33 of her own arrangements, from Irish and Scottish airs and Welsh hymns to classical melodies, each with standard notation, chords and MaxDAD tab.

With Brenda Mangan she co-wrote Psalt of the Earth, a guide to bowing technique for the bowed psaltery, with music annotated for that instrument. Her MaxDAD Songbook is published by Fingers Of Steel.
