Fly The Plane: A Song History

"Fly The Plane" is one of the pieces in Karen Keane's Lullabayou, a 49-page book of mountain dulcimer music published by Fingers Of Steel, whose listing credits her as composer of this and each of the six other titles it names.[1] The listing presents the collection as melodies for fingerpickers or flatpickers, but it gives no tuning for this tune.[1] Keane comes from Shreveport, Louisiana, and performs with John Keane on mountain dulcimer, Native American flute, ukulele and cajon.[2] Both graduated in music education from Northeast Louisiana University, now the University of Louisiana at Monroe, and they have several books and CDs of their own dulcimer and flute compositions.[2] The sources consulted here do not explain the title or document a recording of the piece.[1][2]
