Dance Of The Faeries: A Song History
"Dance Of The Faeries" is one of the twelve pieces in Ellen Pratt's Ensemble Arrangements For The Mountain Dulcimer, Volume 2, a 73-page book she published herself, where it is set as three dulcimer parts in DAD tuning.[1] The listing does not name a composer for the piece, and the sources consulted here do not show whether it is Pratt's own tune or an older melody she arranged.[1][2] Pratt dates her dulcimer composing to about 2004, and her ensemble writing grew out of membership in a dulcimer orchestra in northeastern Connecticut.[2] The sources consulted here say nothing about when the piece was written or what its title refers to.[1][2]

Two fairies, aventurine glass, China, 18th century. Figures the museum calls fairies, shown in fun; they have no connection to the tune.
