Butterfly Waltz: A Song History

← Back to Browse By Song

"Butterfly Waltz" is one of fifteen tunes in Tom McConnell's Music From The Heart, a collection from Airway Publishing that its DulcimerDownloads listing presents as "a book of original music" by McConnell; every piece in it is set in DAD tuning, and each comes with an MP3 recording.[1] Of all the tunes in the book, the listing points players to this waltz in particular, as one that is especially likely to move them.[1] McConnell's artist page on DulcimerDownloads describes him as an amateur who plays guitar, ukulele and mountain dulcimer, with some bass besides, and whose self-described "acoustic folk" mixes in Americana, blues, bluegrass and a little jazz.[2] The sources consulted here do not say when or why he wrote the waltz, and they mention no recording of it apart from the one that comes with the book.[1][2]
