Brown Sugar Shuffle: A Song History

← Back to Browse By Song

"Brown Sugar Shuffle" is one of fourteen tunes in DulciFlute 2, John and Karen Keane's second volume of duets for mountain dulcimer and Native American flute, published by Fingers Of Steel.[1] The book's listing describes its contents as original duets written for the pairing of these instruments, without crediting individual tunes to either player.[1] According to their DulcimerDownloads biography, the Keanes hail from Shreveport, Louisiana, hold degrees in music education, and have written several books and CDs of original music for mountain dulcimer and Native American flute.[2] The sources consulted here say nothing about how this tune came to be written or what its title refers to.[1][2]
