Blue Skies On The Ridge: A Song History
"Blue Skies On The Ridge" is one of the pieces in Ellen Pratt's Ensemble Arrangements For The Mountain Dulcimer, Volume 7, a book published by Ellen Pratt, where it is set in DAD tuning for four dulcimers: first and second parts, a third for standard or bass dulcimer, and a fourth giving chord backup.[1] The listing says the volume combines traditional and classical material with a number of original melodies, and Pratt's own store page calls its contents original and traditional arrangements, but neither names a composer for this piece, so the sources consulted here do not settle whether it is her own tune or say when it was written.[1][2] Her DulcimerDownloads biography dates her first dulcimer compositions to around 2004 and places the start of her ensemble writing and arranging after she joined a dulcimer orchestra in northeastern Connecticut.[3]
