Banks Of The Quay: A Song History

← Back to Browse By Song

Alan Ng’s irishtune.info classifies “Banks of the Quay” as a march in G major, 32 bars long in two repeated strains, and suggests that its opening strain be compared with that of “I’ll Tell Me Ma.”[1] The only recording of it in that index is by De Danann, who played it on C whistles ahead of “Crucharan Cross” on Selected Jigs Reels and Songs, recorded in Germany in 1976 and released in 1977 and 1978.[1][2] irishtune.info found no transcription of the tune in any of the books it indexes.[1]
